This is done in an independent way, on a part-time but regular basis. Lee & White' Data Protection Officer works as part of your team and can rely on the entire Lee & White pool for experience, guidance and advice. The freelance DPO will report directly to the client's CEO and board.
A Data Protection Officer ensures effective compliance with the applicable Data Protection Law:
- Information and raising awareness function, informing staff members on their obligations and responsibilities, and rights.
- Advisory function, to make advise and recommendations on matters concerning data protection.
- Organisational function, drafting applications and official notifications to the Data Protection Authority.
- Cooperative function, responding to queries and requests from the Data Protection Authority.
- Monitoring function, to monitor compliance with Data Protection Law, as well as validate any projects that involve the handling of Personal Data through a Privacy Impact Assessment.
- Handles queries and complaints from the data subjects.
- Helps enforce compliance through direct cooperation with higher management.
- Enables organizations to foresee and address the likely privacy impacts of new plans, anticipate problems, and discuss solutions to ensure data protection compliance.
